See more about the Ectoplasm Selfies project in its project page here.
Ectoplasm is a malleable white substance, usually made from household items such as flour and egg white bound to a fibrous netting. A physical manifestation of the inner spirit "exteriorized", it emerges from a bodily orifice of a medium during a seance. Molteni and Prpc Hedtke offered DIY Ectoplasm building rituals and documented them via selfies inspired by 18th/19th century Spirit Photography. Their riso-printed zine documents these public workshops and analyzes the humorous but pertinent double-entendre- Inner Selfie- as it relates an extroverted culture of sharing and searching for deeper spiritual identity.
